A real achievement: Nind Electrical Services Ltd. owner Jeff Nind was delighted when the company was placed in the top three of its category in the recent 2005 National ECANZ Excellence Awards.

It has been quite a year for award-winning firm Nind Electrical Ltd.

NIND electrical services Ltd has been servicing customers in Southland for more than 27 years. The company employs more than 30 staff between Invercargill and Queenstown. Its client base includes dairy farmers, builders and developers, and industrial clients such as a timber mill, a meat processing plant, a wool scour, limeworks and many more.

Nind Electrical recently entered the 2005 Natinal ECANZ Excellence Awards with the recently-completed 80 bail rotary dairy shed at Glencairn Farm, Dipton. Out of all the entries the judges placed Nind's in the top three for its category in New Zealand. This was a remarkable achievement for the company, given the high standard of entries.

Nind Electrical Services owner Jiff Nind said the award reflected the experience developed following many dairy conversions during the past seven years.

"The attention to detail by the staff involved with the project caught the judges attention, as did the use of power-saving Varivac,installed to control the vacuum pump and environmentally-sensitive effluent system," Jeff said.

This is not the only award-winning achievement from Nind Electrical this year. Chris Gutsell, an apprentice at Nind's Winton branch, was recently placed first in the industrial section of Southland ECANZ Challenge awards.

The awards are a competition specifically aimed at apprentices throughout New Zealand. His total points placed him as one of the top 10 in New Zealand.

Nind Electrical has always placed a high priority on training and developing apprentices. "We recognised some time ago there would be a skills shortage in Southland and Otago. We currently have 14 apprentices at various stages of their apprenticeship," Jeff said.
